How to add an AI chatbot to Webflow
To add an AI chatbot to Webflow, you need a paid Workspace or a paid Site plan — a free Starter site in a free Starter Workspace can't use custom code. Copy your snippet from CAAC Go, open your site's Site settings → Custom code, paste it into Footer code, click Save changes, then Publish. Webflow adds footer code before </body> on every page, so the chat button appears across your whole site.
Before you start
A CAAC Go account — sign up free, no credit card needed.
An agent trained on your business — see how to train your AI agent.
Your snippet from CAAC Go — Step 1 shows where to copy it.
A Webflow plan that allows custom code: a paid Workspace (Core, Growth, Agency or Freelancer) or any active paid Site plan (for example Basic, Premium, an Ecommerce plan, or an older CMS or Business plan). A free Starter site in a free Starter Workspace can't add custom code.
Step 1 · Copy your snippet in CAAC Go
Channels → 💬 Website widget → 🌐 Add to my website → Copy snippet
- In CAAC Go, click Channels in the sidebar, then 💬 Website widget.
- On the install card, choose 🌐 Add to my website.
- Click Copy snippet.
Your snippet looks like this:
<script src="https://caacgo.cresclab.com/widget.js" data-key="YOUR_WIDGET_KEY" data-color="#5090FF" async></script>Copy your own snippet from the dashboard. It already has your widget key in place of YOUR_WIDGET_KEY, so never type the key by hand — one wrong character and the chat won't find your agent. The widget key is public (anyone can see it in your site's HTML), so it's fine to paste it into your site settings.
Step 2 · Paste the snippet into Footer code
⋯ → Site settings → Custom code → Footer code → Save changes
- In your Webflow Dashboard, find your site and click its ⋯ (more options) menu.
- Choose Site settings.
- Open the Custom code tab.
- Paste your snippet into Footer code.
- Click Save changes.
Webflow places footer code just before </body> on every page, which is exactly where CAAC Go's snippet belongs. Paste it once only.
Step 3 · Publish your site
Publish → select domains → Publish to selected domains
- Click Publish.
- Select the domains you want to update.
- Click Publish to selected domains.
Custom code isn't live until you publish. If you'd like to test first, publish to your webflow.io staging domain only, check the chat there, then publish to your main domain.
Step 4 · Check it's live
- Back in CAAC Go (Channels → 💬 Website widget → 🌐 Add to my website), click Test my install. It fetches the homepage of the website you added under Data sources and looks for the snippet. When it finds it, you'll see "✓ Live on" followed by your domain.
- Open your published site in a private (incognito) window, so you see it the way a visitor does.
- Look for the chat button in a bottom corner of the page (bottom-right or bottom-left, depending on your Position setting). Click it and ask a question a customer would ask.
Troubleshooting
The chat button doesn't appear
- Make sure you published after saving. Saved custom code isn't live until you click Publish and choose your domains.
- Reload in a private window, in case your browser is showing a stored copy of the page.
- Check the widget is switched on: in Channels → 💬 Website widget, make sure Widget enabled is on, then click Save changes.
- If you use the domain allowlist (Workspace → Security → Domain allowlist, "Only allow on specific domains"), your site's address must be on the list, one domain per line.
*.yourbusiness.comcovers your subdomains. - If Test my install finds the snippet but you still can't see the button, your site's CSS may be hiding it. Ask whoever looks after your site's design to check.
- Testing on your webflow.io staging domain while the allowlist is on? Add that exact staging address to the list too.
I see two chat buttons
The snippet has been added twice — for example, in Footer code and somewhere else on your site. Remove one copy so it loads only once.
I can't add custom code
Custom code needs a paid Workspace (Core, Growth, Agency or Freelancer) or any active paid Site plan (for example Basic, Premium, an Ecommerce plan, or an older CMS or Business plan). If both your site and your Workspace are on the free Starter plan, upgrade either one first.
Common questions
Which Webflow plan do I need for an AI chatbot?
Either a paid Workspace (Core, Growth, Agency or Freelancer) or any active paid Site plan (for example Basic, Premium, an Ecommerce plan, or an older CMS or Business plan). A free Starter site in a free Starter Workspace can't use custom code.
Does an AI chatbot slow down my Webflow site?
The snippet loads with async, so it doesn't block your page from rendering.
Can I show the chatbot on only some pages?
Footer code in Site settings adds the chat button to every page, which is what most sites want. If you want the chat on one page only, CAAC Go's install options include an inline frame (Use an inline frame →). Test my install can't detect inline-frame installs (it may say the snippet isn't there), and they don't show as live in CAAC Go. To check one, open that page yourself and ask the chat a question.
Do I need a developer?
No — if you can paste text and click save, you can do this yourself. If you'd rather hand it off, open Need help installing? in CAAC Go and click Copy install instructions to send the steps to someone else. Developers can also read the install reference.
